Matilda Movie Comparison 1996 vs 2022:

Both Matilda movies have different pros and cons.

In Matilda the Musical (2022) there were songs with rhymes and fantastic dancing like another recent movie "Wonka", it added adaptation like the physical education scenes, removed Matilda’s brother Micheal, and provided more detailed descriptions of Miss Honey’s story. The cons are that Matilda is a bit childish and posh to me by saying ‘That’s not right’ or ‘Isn’t it well kind of wrong’ and acts more like a hero who saved the school. The movie also changed about 30% of the story from the original book written by Roald Dahl.

In the old version of Matilda on 1996, however, the characters performed better, added parts like Matilda sneaking into the Trunchbull’s house to collect Lisy doll and two pieces of chocolate, together with the FBI watching the Wormwood’s house part. I especially loved the incredible pancake scene. The negative part of this version can be that Matilda is more independent and mature but is too quiet and some scenes were too slow.

Overall, the two movies all share the same morals and messages - the power of kindness, intelligence and standing up to bullies. I think both movies are on the same level because of Matilda the Musical (2022)’s songs and Matilda (1996)’s lovely actors and performance. They all deserve a rating of 7.0 out of 10.0.
