Be Our Guest
"Be Our Guest" is a song from the Disney animated movie "Beauty and the Beast," released in 1991.
It occurs in the first half of the movie shortly after Belle exchanges places with her father as the Beast's prisoner. After refusing to join the Beast for dinner, Belle explores the kitchen, where she is greeted by the enchanted servants: Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth, and Lumière.
The feast starts with bowls jumping onto the dinner table, while Lumière lights a matchstick. Soon, everyone is dancing and singing "Be Our Guest." Belle tastes each dish presented, each one better than the last, as the plates and spoons form into the Eiffel Tower, magically indicating the story's French setting.
I believe this is one of the most creatively animated songs I've ever seen. Although the technology in 1991 may not have been as advanced as it is now, its hand-drawn animation was top-level back then. Perhaps "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid" (1989) is comparable, as it magically combines various musical instruments into the song, amaze me same as the chopstick fighting scene from "Kung Fu Panda" (2008).
My favorite part is when Cogsworth tries to escape the scene with a funny smile as Lumière sings, "Life is so unnerving for a servant who's not serving."
Comparing the 1991 version of "Be Our Guest" with the live-action version from 2017, I prefer the voice and music in the latter, but the dancing and characters in the original. The song could be improved with deeper lyrics or additional layers of music to enhance its richness.
Overall, I believe "Be Our Guest" is a sensational masterpiece by Walt Disney that will stay with me for quite some time.
Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast In a castle dark and grand, Lives a Beast, under a spell so bland. Beauty came, with heart so kind, A love story, they would find. "Be Our Guest!" the dishes sing, A lively dance, everything! Candles glow and teapots twirl, Welcoming a special girl. Mrs. Potts and Lumière, Guide the night with utmost care. Plates and spoons join in the fun, Their adventure's just begun. In the end, love breaks the curse, Beauty's love, the universe. Happily ever after, they now say, In the castle, night and day. # A poem powered by GPT4.0 from my drawing and writing below
